Gus Leunig, son of celebrated cartoonist Michael Leunig, has established his own voice through detailed, whimsical and emotionally resonant works that explore nature, humanity and inner worlds.

This profoundly moving work was created in honour of Connie Johnson—Love Your Sister co-founder and beloved sister of Samuel Johnson. Drawn following Connie’s passing in 2017, the piece stands as a quiet tribute to love, memory and enduring connection.

Rendered in Leunig’s signature poetic style, the work features a celestial scene. A beam of light carries the name “Constance” across the landscape, evoking both loss and transcendence. The imagery is simple yet powerful—imbued with the emotional depth and reflective quality that defines Leunig’s practice.
